Hi I have the last 10 years. Taken finasteride for hair loss. 1.25 mg 5 times a week. In January this year, I decided to switch to a topical 0.1 topical finasteride. The hair has become much thinner, the hairline has become smaller and the hairdresser has also noticed it. I used Minoxdril topical 5% from 2016 to 2019. But had to stop it because of structural change in the heart. Left ventricle. Could it be that I'm losing my regrowth now?
I've been using 1mg finasteride and topical minoxidil for treating my hairloss for past 4years but since April 2023 I've been gradually losing all my hair from unexpected places like sides and back. Sides of my scalp has thinned out significantly. I'm observing thinning happening at the back of my scalp as well. I recently got blood test done and my DHT was 206.27pg/ml. I'm not sure what are the next steps for me. Please advise.
I'm having hair fall for past 8 months. Got tested it was because of vit d deficiency level 8 ng/mL, lost 30% hair can see a bit of scalp. Going through doctor suggested medications. Can i use minoxidil 5% to grow hair and stop when my vit d levels get back to normal.
Hello, currently 5 months on minoxidil and 1 year on finasteride, i got an oily scalp and it seems that the minox doesnt absorb if Im using a regular shampoo, because Im waking up with bald spots the next day. For a good absorption i have to either use micro needling before the minoxidil/ or shampoo with Head and shoulders, which also give me side effects of fatigue and migraines. So Im stuck. I want to quit the minoxidil, but afraid to lose more than baseline. What can i do? Thanks.
Hello, hair loss Doctors. Can low dose oral minoxidil help with alopecia areata? Also can it also be taken as a preventative as well to future alopecia areata spots? I know it's meant for genetic hair loss but can it help prevent alopecia areata as well? Does minoxidil have any affect on the immune cells that attack the follicles in alopecia areata? Thank you
