11 years ago I was diagnosed with AGA (26 yrs old). Tried finsterid but had awful side ef, so I stop. Loss has been focused on temples. 1.5years ago started minoxidil topical & oral (first 2mg, now 4mg) which worked OK. To boost response doctor prescribed to keep oral and change to minox + Dutasteride topical. But 4 months later I have been enduring massive shedding, losing density and hairs falling are miniaturized as never before. Is dut making things worse? Should I go back to only minox?

My primary care doctor said we could try 5 days after he stopped the medicine, while our dermatologist said 6 months. 2 questions 1. When could we start trying? I've been on finasteride for 5 years now and started at nw5 brought me back to nw3 vertex. I take it everyday single day. I've never missed a single dose. I have 2 questions for you. 1.Does finasteride ever just stop working or mainly slowly lose effectiveness but continue to slow my hair loss? 2. If I switch to dutasteride how quickly would take for dutasteride to stop my hair loss once I transfer off finasteride? I don't want to get off fin and lose ground while I begin dutasteride. I have been using Finasteride 1mg a day for around 16months now, alongside Topical minoxidil and microneedling once a week with varying needle lengths from 1-1.5mm. I have noticed a lot of hairs are growing back, but they do not grow past a certain length (maybe around 2-3cm). So i am considering the use of dutasteride, how would i go about introducing this? Once a week alongside my daily finasteride, or completely stop finasteride and start Dutasteride 3x a week/ daily. Thank you
If I move from Finasteride to Dutasteride how quickly does dutasteride stop DHT? First dose? I don't want to get off finasteride and have to wait for dutasteride to kick in and lose ground waiting (if that makes sense). If you could help me understand I would really appreciate it. Thank you
