Genioplasty 8mm 3 years ago. Still extremely tight under the lower lip. Seems to be in the area the top of the muscle was stitched back together. My surgeon has no clue what this is. Ive asked him to reverse the bone a bit and do a dermal fat graft but he has refused and only offering scar release? Will scar release only likely work or make worse? Im mindful of the fact he will have to take the muscle down again.
Hi. I had a sliding genioplasty 8mm 3 years ago and Im suffering from lots of tightness, mostly in the fold area of the chin and lower lip. Very tight, stiff and feels like it has little room for movement. Could this be due to the bone position? Is it too high causing the tissues to be compressed? Or is it more to do with scar tissue / adhesions perhaps? Im desperately trying to find answers and a solution but nobody seems to know. Thank you
I had sliding genioplasty 4 years ago. I wanted only a slight advancement, like 5-6mm. My surgeon said he moved it 6-7mm. I am still mostly numb in my lip and chin and have a lot of tightness. Do you think my chin was moved forward more than 6mm? The farther the chin is advanced, is there more damage to nerves and soft tissue. I am just trying to understand what when wrong.
I had an 8 mm sliding genioplasty 3 years ago and Im suffering from persistent tightness and discomfort. Its affecting me a lot. My surgeon has offered a soft tissue release but Im not sure this alone will work? Do you think its worth cutting the bone and reversing it 4mm or is it too risky?
I had a sliding genioplasty 7 mm forward a year ago , tightness and weird sensation around my lower lip hasnt gone . I had mandibular angle implants over a year ago. I started to experience tightness on my left side with my jaw muscles. Upon further inspection my masseter muscle on the left side sits a cm or so in front of the jaw angle whereas on the right side it goes all the way to the angle and feels like in envelopes it. Could my muscle have slipped off the angle, if so how do I correct this, is it a complex procedure etc
The surgeon is one of the best in my country so I trust him. But I still have a lot of tightness and numbness in my chin and also lost some sensation in my underlip. I called him and he said its normal and I just have to be patient for everything to feel normal again. My father told me that nerves can be damaged during procedures and that they will heal but it can take months. But still I am really concerned that its not normal and I wont get sensation back and that tightness wont go away.
8mm Sliding Genioplasty to advance my chin 7 months ago and its still v very tight. The chin & lip muscles feels like its pulling every time I talk. The teeth & gums feel v tight too. It feels like everything is stretched out so much, as if the tissues cannot cope with the new chin size/ shape. Is this likely to resolve? Trying massage with minimal benefit. Anything I can try? Looks wise Im happy but the tightness is awful and I cant talk properly as uncomfortable & causes excess saliva.
Hi, I had sliding genioplasty on my chin 5 years ago and I've struggle with tightness and discomfort since then. i was advised that plate removal might help.. I read that after one year its very difficult. How difficult would the removal be at this point? How bad is recovery? Are there any other options. Thank you I appreciate any advice
