Im having genioplasty to reduce my chin. The incision will be made through my lip. Complications have been discussed with my surgeon, including numbness and loss of feeling to my lip. I expect to experience this for at least a few weeks and Im aware theres a chance the feeling to my lower lip wont return.Could my speech be partially or significantly affected permanently? My job requires me to speak to clients and colleagues daily, so this would be a problem if I end up with speech issues
I just had orthognatic surgery it helped, but not fully my chin is still short and I'm going to need sliding genioplasty. I'm just worried about getting numb in my lower lip and chin again. How long after having orthognatic surgery should I wait to have genioplasty? Is their a risk for permanent numbness increase if you've damaged the nerve before? Can i have the incision under my chin?
I had sliding genioplasty 4 years ago. I wanted only a slight advancement, like 5-6mm. My surgeon said he moved it 6-7mm. I am still mostly numb in my lip and chin and have a lot of tightness. Do you think my chin was moved forward more than 6mm? The farther the chin is advanced, is there more damage to nerves and soft tissue. I am just trying to understand what when wrong.
I had a breast reduction of 2 cup sizes four years ago and permanently lost sensation in my nipples. I am planning on getting a sliding genioplasty (around 5 mm forward and 5 mm down--does that look realistic?) and am worried about the chance of having permanent numbness in my lips, which I would hate. Is there a percentage?
The surgeon is one of the best in my country so I trust him. But I still have a lot of tightness and numbness in my chin and also lost some sensation in my underlip. I called him and he said its normal and I just have to be patient for everything to feel normal again. My father told me that nerves can be damaged during procedures and that they will heal but it can take months. But still I am really concerned that its not normal and I wont get sensation back and that tightness wont go away.
I had a 4mm sliding genioplasty 2 months ago. I don't like how my entire face looks now. My lower lip is thinner, my face is longer, and my smile lines are so much deeper now. I look so old now but I'm only 19. I am still numb on my chin and still cannot talk or smile properly. Would a revision help? I just want my old face back
