I had a crown done on one of my molar tooth about 10years ago. However for the past 2 years I have been getting tooth ache and severe pain in that crown. I have been to the dentist who x-rayed the area and has established that an instrument had been broken inside the tooth whilst the crown was done and is still there. I also get an abscess in the area which has to be treated with antibiotics.
He used a laser on gums and put temporary crown on. when novocaine wore off -- had pain in tooth and gums. after almost a week went back to dentist -- said rinse with 1/2 peroxide and 1/2 water. 3 days later called emergency number. sent me to periodontist -- took x-rays and examined talked about doing implant instead. put me on antibiotic -- told me to come back in 2 weeks and we'd discuss what should be done.
I replaced six 20 year old crowns and veneers. Since procedures- I have had to take Aleve every 12 hours- my sinus area under my eye on left side is painful and as day goes on when I eat/drink. It hurts worse into my jaw and my ear too. Pain = 6 weeks | CT Scan of sinus =2 rounds of antibiotics= cleared right side of sinus pain | xray = no root canal needed, but positive to cold sensitivity on 10,11,12. What else needs to be observed? I am concerned something is overlooked?
I felt shooting pain with particular movements Wed. way worse than before. My tooth didnt even hurt before the canal after/before taking antibiotics- the pain got slightly better after wed But no better Thurs. or Fri. Ive taken aleve/ Tylenol which doesnt really address the pain. I have yet to get the crown. how long is it ok to feel like this when should I start to worry that this isnt normal- also my tooth was filed down and doesnt touch...
Older root canal still hurts. It hurts even to touch it. Had exrays done nothing showed up. Dentist gave me some antibiotics and it cleared up. It will get sore if I chew gum a lot. It is a front bottom tooth. It usually goes away after a day or so. But it's really throbing this time. Dentist said maybe some infection in the root canal said he could go in and scrap it out. But was not 100 % that would fix it. Went for years with no problem but a little soreness. Any hope for this root canal?
I grind my teeth at noc. I had very deep cavity requiring antibiotic prior to root canal in my far left bottom molar. I had root canal one month ago. I had crown put in last week. I felt fine until ye is happening? yesterday. Very deep aching/zinging type pain when I try to chew anything hard like a carrot or almond. Reminds me of before the root canal.
I had a new crown installed 5 months ago and ever since I have had sharp pain when biting. I have been back to the dentist 5 times to get my bite adjusted. This last visit (#6) no bite adjustment needed, x-rays are fine and doctor prescribed antibiotics to see if it is my sinuses. I finished the antibiotics and the pain is not better when I nite. Would sinus problems cause a sharp pain only when I bite down? Or do I need a second opinion?
My upper front tooth broke at the gum line 15 years ago. I had root canal, a metallic post and a crown built. Now I have a pocket of pus under my gum (high) that I feel when I press. The tooth became sensitive to pressure and I took antibiotics that relieved the symptoms. My dentist told me that the tooth is fractured bellow the gum line and has to be removed. I am away for a month, can I take antibiotics to prevent infection from re-occurring/spreading and extract it on return. Thank you.
I have a tooth that has a crown that hits another crown on the bottom teeth. The tooth has a 10 year old root canal which looks good. There is sensitivity in the gums above the tooth to cold and seems to be a slight infection there. I'm wondering if antibiotic treatment would clear this up along with fixing the bite. I would rather not have the tooth retreated with another root canal since the first one seems in tact.
