I currently have a infection at pulp of tooth on number 9 . They say those dont actually go away with antibiotics . The tooth would need to be removed . Iam looking at getting implant. My question is that is it uncommon they want to extract tooth and do dental bone grafting even tho there is the infection in there . ? My thought is I figured they would want you to get it out clear infection then later do bone grafting . They say no. They typically can do it at time of extraction
I had a 6-year chronic infection of 2 upper root canal molars (retreated) that radiated to my sinus and i was getting sinus pressure and congestion at night and in the mornings. Last week the dentist extracted both, took out a big cystic lesion and put bone graft. Its been almost a week and although i am healing quickly, my sinus did not improve and i have slightest dull pain on that side. Is there chance the infection is still present?
2 moths ago I had #15 extracted. is was a root-canalled tooth with a large infection and a cyst on a root. The cadaver bone graft was done right after the tooth was out. I am starting to feel a fullness in that area and the gums are a brighter pink (but not swollen). Oddly enough, I've been waking up with my RIGHT eye swollen and the lid filled with fluid. Wondering if I should be taking the time to get this looked into or this is normal while the bone is healing. Thank you for any thoughts.
Had #18 extracted Thurs d/t infection to side of tooth. Dentist removed(had to section it & root was curved), cleaned out cyst, grafted, sutured & placed goopy item: referred to as a membrane (collagen?) Collagen came off at 36 hrs & sutures now coming undone (84 hrs). Dentist told yesterday: peridex BID ordered. Pain in line w/ expectations until today. 650 mg Tylenol: ineffective. 325 mg Tylenol w/ 600 mg of Motrin: better. Going back to dentist tmrw. What should concerns and questions be?
I had my back right molar (tooth 17) pulled 7 months ago due to multiple failed root canals and an underlying infection. Bone grafting was done, but no implant. It took a few weeks for the pain to subside and for it to heal. Everything seemed somewhat normal. Cut to two weeks ago where I noticed a hard little white speck of bone poking through my gums near where the extraction took place. It was not painful, and fell out. Now it's back, but much bigger. Will it heal? Is it infected?
What are the risks (long term and short term) of using cadaver bone graft before dental implant? Would it be better to just have the tooth (last molar on the lower area) extracted than to extract and do an implant? My last molar has infection, which is my dentist said we might need to do a bone graft for better support of the implant.
I had a consultation with a periodontist and I will be extracting the infected tooth soon. I have not been prescribed anything for the infection and he has not mentioned anything about the bone graft being done at a later date. I'm curious how other professionals proceed in this type of situation. I had a perforation that resulted in some bone loss and a pimple on my gums which I'm guessing is an infection. I will be getting an implant once it all heals.
