Chapped lips after fat transfer to lips?

I don't hear patients reporting this however, I suggest a topical steroid and moisturizer to the area for now.  If there is significant bruising, pain and swelling this may be dead skin and should be evaluated by your physician.  Otherwise, it should subside. Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question.  It is normal for patients to have dry lips after fat grafting to lips because more of your lip is exposed to the air.  At our office we have patients use aquaphor or Vaseline on their lips like chap stick.  Check with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon on his post operative care

The swelling and trauma can result in sloughing of the outer layer of the skin.  Let your doctor know.   Over the counter remedies are most likely sufficient.Best of luck. Dr. Michael Omidi
