Hello I had a functional septorhinoplasty about 2 years ago. It left a dent on the left side of my nose as well as swelling from the mid vault to the nostril also on the left side. It's been a pretty traumatic experience. The doctor performing the revision is going to be using rib cartilage for grafts. Are these grafts grafts usually harvested the same day of the surgery? I would like to ask him directly, but he seems very busy and I don't want to bother him

My preference is, in general, always to rasp nasal bones rather than breaking them whenever possible. The fracturing of nasal bones can be traumatic and can cause more bruising and swelling than needed. One could say that rasping is the rule in my practice, not the exception.
