I had revision surgery 4 weeks ago, the swelling around the nasal bone has subsided. However, I have noticed that on the right side the nasal bone sticks out making my nose look very asymmetrical. My surgeon advised me to push down on the area twenty times a day. I can push the bone down with a certain amount of pressure and the bone stays in that position for a while then comes back out again. What can I do to rectify the situation permanently? Should I get the surgeon to rasp the area down?

I agree with many of the comments that are already posted. For your type of nose it is key to understand what your skin envelope is like. If there us still some flexibility we can augment your tip with further cartilage grafting to help define.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, wearing these will not have any lasting effect for you. They will not change the shape or strength of your ala or nasal sidewalls. I occasionally ask patients to wear these after a revision procedure where I am opening a scarred...
In general I have my anesthesiologist present during nasal surgery so the pt is comfortable regardless of the level of anesthesia necessary. Having said that , over the last 35 years I've done many nasal procedures such as a tip-plasty under local anesthesia.
