Is it normal for my eyes to feel heavy/pressure 1 week 3 days post LASIK? My eyes didn't start feeling heavy until yesterday?

This is most common time for these symptoms to arise.  When you had your LASIK, certain small nerves in the eye were cut and you are just starting to see the effects of this: the dryness.  This is typically a temporary problem as the healing occurs over the next few days and weeks. The best way to counteract the dryness and the scratchy, gritty and even blurry vision that comes along with it is to be extra vigilant about putting preserved free artificial tears in your eyes when you feel the symptoms.  I tell my patients to put them in every 15 minutes for a few hours and generally they are able to see and feel the difference pretty quickly. Put them in at least 4 times/day -- you can do more, but don't do less and consider a thicker gel or ointment for nighttime use as the mornings are the driest part of the day. For longer term dryness, there is a lot of evidence that a high potency fish oil taken orally is helpful is reducing signs and symptoms of dry eye but it has to be from fish (not plant sources) and it needs to be specially formulated for dry eye as most over the counter brands are not strong enough to impact the eye.
