Greetings! I had Vaser lipo performed on my upper, middle and lower abs and my flanks exactly 3 weeks ago. My PS said she was able to remove 1 liter of fat which she stated was a lot for someone my size. I had a 27 inch waist before surgery and it was almost 30in post. My swelling has gone down back to my original 27in waist, but I have hard lumps and residual swelling where the fat used to be. I have been massaging them as my PS instructed me to. When will I expect to see my final results?
Answer: Recovery following VASER Liposuction It is normal to be lumpy and bumpy after any liposuction procedure. I tell my patients that the majority of swelling is gone by 2-3 months. Lymphatic massage and external ultrasound help expedite the recovery process and will eliminate the bumpy areas quicker. Sometimes the irregularities are caused by poor liposuction but you will not be able to tell for several months after the procedure. Also placing a heating pad on medium or a warm compress for 20 minutes per day with massage afterwards will help.

Answer: Three weeks post VASER lipo, have swelling and hard lumps. Is this normal? Three weeks out, it is early to say what your end result will be. Swelling resolves over 6 weeks or longer. The hard lumps will resolve most of the time. I use the VASER extensively in my body contouring practice, and although hard lumps can happen, it is rare if the area was treated with a good technique. Follow up with your plastic surgeon, there's a possibility that additional surgery might be needed if these don't disappear in 6 months. Good luck.
