Hi there I had a chin implant 6 months ago and my chin is now very square and the front is very flat like a paddle. It makes me look quite strange as you can quite obviously see the outline of the implant. Will this go away? Can I do anything to help mould the implant in better with the surrounding facial contours? I realise most of the time people are told to get into contact with their doctors but I had my procedure in a different country and is impossible to get hold of.
Answer: Chin implant Hello ! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue with your chin implant. It's possible that the appearance of your chin could improve over time as your tissues adapt and settle around the implant. However, if the implant is significantly misaligned or protruding, it may require revision surgery to correct the issue. In terms of molding the implant to better match your facial contours, there are some non-surgical options that may be worth exploring with a qualified practitioner, such as dermal fillers or fat transfer. These treatments can help to fill in any irregularities and create a more natural-looking result. Ultimately, the best course of action would be to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon or healthcare provider who can assess your individual case and provide personalized recommendations based on your unique needs and circumstances. I hope this helps, best of luck !

CONTACT NOW Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Chin implant: things you should know Thank you for your question. I’m sorry that you’re unhappy with your chin implant. Six months after surgery, it is unlikely that your current appearance will change. The chin can be reshaped with properly placed filler for a short-term result, but you may require revision surgery to alter, remove, or replace the current implant. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to review your surgical history, discuss your concerns with you, and help you decide on the best course of action.

Answer: Surgery results I do not recommend people travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. Doing so put people at a serious disadvantage if they have issues after surgery, which is far more common than people believe. To make an assessment on the outcome of a procedure we need to see a proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, then I suggest you contact your surgeon and ask them to forward the ones they took. Alternatively, you can schedule in person second opinion consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons or oral surgeons in your community. Without including pictures I don’t think you’re gonna get any meaningful response. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
