I have a few moles that concern me, especially one on the side of my toe and sole of my foot. I have already made an appt with my derm and emailed him, he said it "looks early" and a "shave should work fine" but from what I understand a shave is not enough to remove melanoma, wouldn't it be best to just excise it then and there? Also concerning me is the location- if I have excisions on my toe and foot will I be off my feet for a considerable amount of time? Is it more invasive in those areas?

I can't make a determination based on this photo, however, I would recommend having this looked at in the office by a dermatologist. He or she may decide to perform a biopsy of this spot to give you a firm diagnosis and peace of mind.
