I'm very petite I really hate how narrow my hips are. Ever since middle school I waited and waited for my hips to get wider as I grew but it never really happened. I've even tried to gain weight to change it, but I tend to not gain wait in this area. I'm scared nothing can be done because the bones aren't wide enough. Is there surgery that can be done to widen my hips? Exercises? Could hormones like estrogen and progesterone increase the amount of fat I gain in that area?
Answer: Widening the hips with a fat transfer I actually had a similar case years ago (web reference below). The patient - who had a large abdominal area, small buttocks, and narrow hips - expressed a desire to enhance both her buttocks and her hips.Liposuction alone can narrow the waist and make the hips appear to be wider, but fat injections can also be made directly to trochanteric fat pad.All of us have genetically determined areas where our bodies store fat. That pattern of fat storage is what gives us our shape. If we remove fat cells from those areas where your body likes to store fat (unwanted) and inject the processed fat to other areas (wanted), the results can be a permanent re-shaping of the body contour.Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in fat transfer procedures to discuss your specific goals and determine whether you are a candidate for a fat transfer.

Answer: Wider Hips? Thank you for your question. Without pictures or an exam it is rather hard to give you specific advice. For patients that want a fuller profile in their hips, sometimes fat grafting can be an option. Unfortunately, those patients who do not have fullness in those areas often do not have much fat tissue to donate for grafting. Only with a consultation and exam can someone discuss with you what options might be available to you. Find a local qualified plastic surgeon and get a consultation to discuss your goals.Best of luck!
