Retin-A is great for surface clogs!
Retin-A assists your skin to exfoliate more easily and is great for surface black and white heads. For the deepest of clogging, an extraction might be required to do the job. Other products that work similarly are Differin, Tazorac, and the generic version of Retin-A: tretinion.

Blackheads and whiteheads
Comedones, open and closed (blackheads and whiteheads) are best treated topically by either retin-A or differin gel. Both are effective at minimizing these though neither will completely eradicate them.

Retin-A for Blackheads
Retin-A is a very effective treatment for treating and preventing blackheads and whiteheads. Results will usually be seen in a week, and improvement will continue over 4 months. I do recommend extractions for some patients who have many lesions, or who want immediate improvment.
