Can I Reduce Scar Tissue from Zygomatic Fracture Repair 14 Months Post Op?

In March 2010 I had a mesh plate repair on my zygoma arch following an accident. I have had minimal complications, one minor infection 1 month post op, but i am concerned about scar tissue. I can feel "build up" in my face that is very tight and painful in the morning or after rigorous activity. It has gotten worse in the past 3 months. Is there any way to clean out the scar tissue or should I be concerned about further complications? thank you!
