Is it Possible to Restore the Dorsal Hump on a Nose that was Straightened by Reconstructive Surgery?

I know this is a little strange but I miss the small dorsal humo I once had on my nose. After an accident I needed reconrstuctve surgery on my noe. My surgeon straightened my nose bridge instead of trying to restore my nose with my dorsal. I feel like my bridge is too wide now. Is it possible to restore a dorsal hump with cosmetic surgery> You can still see a slight indentation of the dorsal hump but for the most part it is straight.

Photos of the front and side, of the nose, would help with the evaluation. Removing a dorsal bump should not make the nose appear wider and this may be an indication of a full or partial "open roof deformity". You might want a second opinion before having any further Rhinoplasty surgery. Typically, creating a bump or dorsal hump is not requested but more often a straight (non-scooped) bridge is the aesthetic norm.

Putting hump back on bridge

You sure can restore a dorsal hump if you want. You can use a cartilage graft from the septum, ear or rib as the most likely source of tissue. This would also serve to give the appearance of a more narrow bridge as well. I'd suggest a careful discussion with your surgeon so that everyone is on the same page regarding how much of a hump you want back.

Restoring Nasal Hump after Surgery

You can restore a nasal hump if you want. A surgeon can use your own cartilage, bone or fascia to augment your bridge. This will also give the illusion of narrowing the 'wide' bridge you don't like.

Restoring the Dorsal Hump on a Nose that was Straightened by Reconstructive Surgery

There are 2 ways to "re-create" a Dorsal Hump appearance; one would be to lower the cartilage dorsum so that the bony dorsum would appear as a "bump" this is not always advisable, as it may give a "saddle-nose" look to the nose. The alternate would be to use a bony or cartilage graft to the dorsum such as iliac (hip) bone, rib cartilage or calvarial (skull) base.

Replacing a bump that is gone.

There are several options for you to do this. You can either place an implant in, or use a variety of material that is harvested from your ear, scalp or rib.

Revisoin rhinoplasty

Sometimes with rhinoplasty if osteotomies are not done, the nose can look a bit flat or wide. It is hard to say what would work for you without an exam. Grafts can be put in to augment the dorsum if needed.

Sometimes people want larger noses or restoration of nasal humps

Very often in revision rhinoplasty we raise up the dorsum, nasal profile, using grafts. Scooped noses can be made straight and people who desire a small hump, which is often the case in some ethnicities, the same can be done as well. Grafts can be from your own cartilage or using a synthetic material depending on your examination and the availability of cartilage. Raising the hump will also create the illusion of narrowing your nose, making your eyes appear less far apart. If it's... more

Nasal bump

Yes, you can make a bump, but perhaps narrrowing the bones may help with the desired cosmetic result. You need to be seen to determine what should be done.

Dorsal nose hump can be restored.

Hi. Depending on your anatomy, you may not even need surgery. The hump may be re-created with a filler such as Juvederm. Or else a revision rhinoplasty with a graft should do it. see video

Dorsal Hump

Great question. Although most people want the dorsal hump removed, it is possible to augment the dorsum to create a hump. There are several options to do this, such as septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and temporalis fascia. All these materials can be procured from your own tissues. I prefer your own body sources for augmentation, rather than synthetic.
