I did sculptra in 12/21 and planning a bbl for 7/22 or 8/22. Is it safe to do the bbl? How do surgeons determine if i am at risk for infection or fat necrosis?
Answer: BBL Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You are a great candidate for 360 Lipo + BBL. The history of Sculptra will not impact the safety or results of your future BBL procedure. You will be able to see more meaningful results with the BBL. Unless you have significant medical problems, you are not at increased risk of fat necrosis or infection. There are ways to reduce the risk of these complications. I hope this helps.

Answer: BBL candidate Dear luck249090, based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a BBL. Liposuction of your abdomen, back and flanks should give you more curves and hourglass shape and fat transfer to buttocks should give you more projection. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Sculptra and bbl Any procedure of fat injection, Sculptra, or any other filler implies the risk of local infection. It's always necessary to apply an aseptic technique, antibiotic prophylaxis, and to perform the procedure in an adequate medical environment to minimize the risks. Furthermore, patients with immunological illnesses are at higher risk of developing an infection. Consequently, a thorough risk assessment is necessary before any surgical intervention to prevent complications. It's important to know that bigger quantity of fat are associated to a bigger risk of fat necrosis, and it has to be adequately distributed in the tissues to optimize the blood supply to the fat grafting.I hope this information helps. Regards, :)Dr Bukret

Answer: Previous Sculptra Having had a previous Sculptra injections should not put you at significant risk for having a BBL. Some plastic surgeons may be apprehensive but I would imagine the great majority are happy to do your procedure. That said delivering consistent quality Liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of properly vetting providers and finding the most experienced and talented provider in your community. That said delivering consistent quality Liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of properly vetting providers and finding the most experienced and talented provider in your community. Do that by having multiple in person consultations. During the consultation you can also discuss your history of using Sculptra and see how the surgeon feels about it. During in person consultations ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures for BBL results.Make absolutely sure that fat transfer after pictures were taken at least three months from the date of the procedure.Early pictures can look very impressive but do not represent final results. Look carefully at all liposuction results for any area of skin contour irregularities or imperfections. Ask the provider what areas were treated and what areas were not treated and look carefully at transition zones between treated and entreated areas. You should look very carefully for any evidence of contour irregularities. Quality providers should have none Simply seeing a handful of pre-selected pictures which most likely represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what the average results look like in the hands of each provider. For that reason you should ask the provider to open up their portfolio and show you as many before and after pictures as possible.Ask specifically for them to show you as many before and after pictures of patients with similar body characteristics to your own. an experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures for a common procedure like this. Highly experienced providers will have hundreds or even thousands of before and after pictures. I also recommend reading all reviews on the various physician review websites avoiding providers for any significant number of justified negative reviews. The absence of justified negative reviews is more important and more telling than having an abundance of positive reviews. Providers very substantially in their view and philosophy on how this procedure should be performed. there is a tendency for some providers to create cartoonish character looking figures which large round buttocks purposely doing liposuction on the thighs to accentuate the butt. I called this the lollipop look and in my opinion it is highly undesirable, unnatural and is very difficult to correct. A good outcome should look like a smooth continuous sloping S curve from the shoulders to the knees. Continue having consultations until you feel very certain you found the most talented and experienced provider. Results from this procedure are permanent and irreversible. If done poorly patients are left just figured. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
