Hi, I struggled with acne since I was 13 and now I'm 20. I believe I have Post Inflammatory hyperpigmentation from the old acne and I'm ready to get rid of these marks on my back. I'm of mixed race, black and white. I was wondering if my 30% Glycolic acid peel would get rid of the marks if I did it once a week for a month or so, or would a TCA Peel be better? If so what percent? I'd also like to know in case I go to a professional what peel would be better suited for my skin. Thanks!

Answer: Treating Hyperpigmentation, PIH, and discoloration with lasers and Melarase creams
Peau d'orange (French for orange peel skin) is caused by cutaneous lymphedema which results in swelling of the skin. The skin is tethered by sweat ducts or connections to muscle that produces dimples in the skin like that of an orange.
I suggest a formal consult some of your changes may have been from your pregnancy and may need a combination approach of peels, lasers and needling. Best, Dr. Emer.

It sounds to me like you may be having a reaction to the Kojic Acid. I recommend discontinuing the use of the product for now, and seek a consultation with an Esthetician to determine the best course of treatment for your skin type and concerns. good luck!
