what would you suggest i eat to help lose weight, as i havent a clue were to start? also i was told to wear the compression garment for only 3 days after my op and now i no longer have it, should i still be wearing it then? as i have seen on here that a lot of people still wear theirs? iam nearly 4 weeks post op.
Answer: Post Op Lipo : Diet, Exercise and Garments After liposuction you experience a lot of swelling, which contributes to weight fluctuation in the beginning. In order to have the best results, it is good to have a well-balanced diet, including carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, and proteins. You should be careful not to overeat and increase your exercise with healthy limitation of calories. A low salt diet and drinking water liberally will help the edema go away a bit faster as will walking increasing distances. See below link for more information about compression garments.

Answer: Recovery and Diet after Liposuction Thank you for your question. We recommend compression all the time for one week after liposuction and half the time for the second week. At four weeks, you probably don't need to wear compression any longer.Regarding you diet, I recommend getting a consultation with a dietitian, who can give you many suggestions on what to eat and how to modify your diet. 80% is what you put in your mouth and the other 20% is exercise. To be sure, return to see your surgeon and follow his or her instructions. I hope this helps.

Answer: Increased wait for weeks after liposuction may still be excess body water. It four weeks excess body weight may still be due to swelling after the procedure. Weight loss will require a change in lifestyle. This can be researched but dietitians can be of use as well.

Answer: Lose weight post op I would definitely recommend to look for "The Zone diet" which is not in reality a diet, it is a new way of diet habits. But also you may consider attend a Nutritionist consultation. It is also a reality that do not exist magic diets, magic pills, magic shots. You have to combine a better eating habits and exercise (after 4 weeks postop you may try walking). It is also a myth the more you sweat the more you burn (fat). The perfect exercise to burn fat is walking 45-60 minutes, 4-5 days per week.I recommend my patients to wear the compression garment for only 6 weeks because the garment will help the skin to re-attach the muscle and retrain the swelling.Be encouraged.Dr. Cardenas

Answer: Post-liposuction Compression There are more qualified people than myself to answer your weight loss/nutrition question, but I can respond to your inquiry about compression garment use post-liposuction. Based on the evidence available in the medical literature (and the recommendations made by Jeff Klein, MD, the developer of the tumescent technique for liposuction), compression is crucial during the first 3 days after liposuction. Typically this is done with 2 layers of compression garments. After those initial 3 days, only a light compression garment is recommended, more so for its ability to make the treated areas feel better than for any physiologic benefit. Wearing 2 tight layers of compression after the first 3 days following liposuction can also prolong the duration of swelling and should not be used. Therefore, you can keep using a light compression garment if you prefer, but it will not have any effect on the final outcome.
