3 years after my breast augmentation I discovered a lump in my breast. The scan showed hernation but my surgeon said I quote "everything is perfect". I would be grateful for a second opinion.
Answer: Implant herniation Hello, according to your report, the implant is intact so perhaps your surgeon was indicating that there is no concern about the implant being ruptured. If you are still concerned about the contour abnormality / lumpiness or if you are developing symptoms, you could discuss this with your PS or seek another opinion.

Answer: Go on consultations for your revision surgery concerns Thanks for posting your question. I am happy to try and help you. It is important to remember that a board certified plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to an accurate assessment of your situation, and concerns. Having said that, you should go see some other surgeons and have examinations. This is not the place for you to determine your treatment. Best wishes, Dr. Michael J. Answer: Does an implant herniation require action? I would have to say that the word "herniation" here is the problem. I don't believe I have ever used this term to refer to a situation with a breast implant. The radiologist never sees the actual implant or the scar tissue that can form around the implant. The most likely situation is that there is excess car tissue around your implant which has contracted around the implant causing folding which is what you feel. You could certainly watch this or you could have the implants and the scar capsules removed and have new implants placed.I would have consultations with several board certified plastic surgeons in your area who be able to give you sound advice regarding how best to proceed.Best of luck.

Answer: Does an implant herniation require action? Agree with Dr. Feldman...the folding of the implant can definitely cause the shell to break so your options are to simply watch it for any change or to opt for a revision with exchange of implants +/- capsulectomy. Best to have a frank discussion with your operating surgeon about your concerns/worries and how best to address them. Good luck!

Answer: Herniation? It appears that your capsule is causing some bulging of your implant, which is what you are feeling. It doesn't appear that you have any disease process in your breast and if you are otherwise happy with your breasts, there is no indication to intervene, at this point. If your shape deteriorates or the bulging worsens, then you may consider revision surgery.
