Doing taping and massage as instructed By PS, but space seems too significant for these interventions and no improvement so far. Can a significant retraction such as mine be corrected with these measures or am I doing more harm than good?
Answer: Lower eyelid pulling away Since you are only about 2 weeks post op I think doing taping and masage is a good way to go and hopefully over time this will correct itself.

Answer: Lower eyelid ectropion after lower blepharoplasty You have early lower eyelid ectropion or retraction. It is still early in the healing process and usually this resolves. If it doesn't resolve, then treatment may be necessary. Communicate with your surgeon. Do squinting eye exercises and massage lower eyelids upwards.

Answer: Lower lids pulling away after blepahroplasty It is difficult to tell from the resolution on this one photo, but you may have some chemosis in the outer half of the eye helping to push the lid away. You may also have some lid laxity that may not have been addressed. I would consult with your surgeon. If you do have chemosis then lubrication and steroid drops may be helpful. This is best evaluated with an in person exam by your surgeon.

Answer: This can go either way. It is certainly possible that these measures will help improve the ectropion caused by your lower eyelid surgery. However it will not correct the loss of the almond shape of the lower eyelid margin. Fixing this issue is much more complex than simply putting a "stitch" in the eyelid. Generally it is best to let the eyelids heal for 6 to 12 months. During this time you may decide the result is acceptable. Now the reality is that as you heal, this issue may actually get worse. Don't let your surgeon rush you back to the operating room in order to do a quick fix. This only uses up the resources needed for a definitely repair of this issue.

Answer: Lower eyelid retraction Because you are only 2.5 weeks removed from surgery, it is difficult to draw conclusions about your eyelid position. Post-operative swelling and incisional healing can temporarily exacerbate this problem. Continue to massage and tape the eyelids as instructed. If you are experiencing any eyelid irritation, be sure to use drops or ointment to prevent corneal problems. If the lower eyelid problem persists for 4-6 more weeks, you may need intervention to improve the eyelid position. Be sure to follow up regularly with your surgeon.
