Fat loss on forehead due to trauma. What should I do? (Photo)

All different types of fillers can be used to treat this, I like Radiesse or Bellafill but fat can be used if it is injected properly with a cannula. I suggest finding a well trained physician for this. Best, Dr. Emer.

Having done fat grafting for more than 35 years with excellent results I feel that the results are definitely injector D pendant. If properly done what you see there at three months will last essentially forever.The fat must be concentrated and the only problem is differential results on an area as large as the four head where the fat me aggregate in certain areas due to sleeping etc. See an experienced surgeon for this.    

Facial fat atrophy secondary to trauma could be corrected with fat transfer to the area. One of the risks of fat transfer is reabsorption of the fat several years after transfer.  Although of-the-shelf fillers could be used to correct soft tissue defect irregularities with an off-lable-use, these fillers also have a short longevity (1 to 2 years).Patients that underwent facial fat atrophy correction with fat transfer that has "disappeared" may benefit from a re-do fat transfer. When performed with a delicate technique ( minimal manipulation of the fat), the transplanted fat may stay viable for several years.
