Can I switch trays early with Invisalign? Current tray is unbelievably painful.

Hi Bubbobble,At our practice we advise our patients to wear their trays for 14 days each. If the tray is painful, your teeth may not be tracking properly. With that said, switching to the next tray will not alleviate any pain but most likely cause more. Make an appointment with your Invisalign dentist to discuss the large amount of pain you say you're in. Good luck!

Assuming the aligner is tight from movement teeth moving, you should not change yet. Pain, pressure and fit are used to evaluate when to change. You can decrease the pain and pressure as well as accelerate tooth movement with OrthoPulse.  Visit our website or look up OrthoPulse to learn about the technology. I assume you are being treated by an orthodontist. You can possibly get an orthopulse unit from a dentist, but most orthodontist haven't seen these yet, so it's pretty much a guarantee a general dentist will have never heard of photobiomodulation.

If tray #43 is very painful then it may be better to go back to #42 and see your dentist to see what is causing your pain.  Your dentist likely has tools that can help to reduce the sharpness of the edges that is better then the file you are using.
