Minifacelift sounds good but that is about it. You cannot have long lasting good results from a minifacelift. Temporarily it might look great but very soon, as early as a year you can see that it did not correct the deformities you were concerned about. A regular facelift is longer lasting. You should look... more

A: Operation must fit the problem

Most patients age synchronously so benefit from a full facelift (takes care of all problems).  Less often, the upper face (eyelids to jaw) may descend with the neck holding its own.  In this case a minifacelift might be the best solution.  However, one must properly wed the operation to the problem.

If you are in your early 40s and are just starting to show a hint of jawline laxity and facial skin laxity - then a mini lift is well suited for you.  You will notice a difference, but remember that it will be short lived, as these procedures have limited undermining (remember - it is a mini) and rely on... more

How many times have you heard: "No pain - No gain", "Too good to be true",  Or "There is one born every minute" ?  This NEW 4 letter word - MINI - embodies the crass salesmanship and collective gullibility of the 21st century.  I LOVE and LOATH the word MINI... more

A: Mini-face-lift or "mini-lift"

Michelle Copeland, MD, DMD

With a mini-lift, only the lower face-- from cheek to chin-- is lifted, which effectively elimates jowls and redefines the cheekbones.  As with a face-lift, the mini lift is often accompanied by a neck lift, which removes fat from below the chin and tightens the neck's platysma muscles, all though a tiny... more

Nomenclature for procedures are not specific. One surgeon's mini may not be the same as another's. The procedure should match your anatomy and your goals. Whatever it takes to get you what you want is what will need to be done. You can call it whatever you want and the surgeon can charge whatever he... more

I love this question.  It's one of the most common ones I'm asked by people who don't feel ready for any "big surgery" but want to turn back the clock a few years.  Here's my take on a mini-facelift vs a full facelift: Think of the face as a bed.  The muscles are your mattress and the... more

There are many definitions of a mini facelift.  Some techniques work and others dont. At the end of the day, I have found that most patients want real correction and real results.  Some mini facelift techniques only address the skin and don't address the deep muscles or SMAS.  In my opinion... more

Their is not a single asnwer that applies to every person.  There is also no real concensus on what constitutes a mini-facelift versus a full facelift.  Basically, if you just need a little skin tightening, then a smaller incision with less disruption of your tissue may be adequate.  However, in... more
