Is Dermaroller Effective for Different Acne Scars?

I have some acne scarring on my cheeks. Some are ice pick scars and some are less deep. I have about six scars on each cheek. My friends tell me that they are not noticeable, but they are being kind. A local skin clinic has suggested the dermaroller applied by a nurse. Is it likely to be effective? Also, what questions should I ask? Thanks for your help.
