I see a lot of posts talking about lymphatic massage after lipo. I’m 10 days post op, after having the full 5 liters removed from lower/upper abdomen, waist and hips. My question is: is massage necessary to get the best final result? Or does it affect the result at all? I’m still extremely tender and can’t imagine massaging but would be willing to suck it up and do it if helps the ending result. Thanks!
Answer: Are massages after lipo necessary? Hello and how are you. I always recommend patients do at least ten to twenty lymphatic drainage massages after their procedures. Answer: Massage I address this on an as needed basis and take into consideration patient discomfort, the extent of swelling and weight gain status. If there is considerable discomfort, massage may not be tolerated. If there is a great deal of swelling, compression should be addressed in addition to the need for massage.

Answer: Is massage necessary after lipo There is no clear cut scientific answer to this question. Most surgeons would agree that positive pressure from massage would encourage the lymphatics to rmeove the extra fluid that is between the cells. I wouldn't recommend it to my patient if they were too sore to have it done. This doesn't make sense to me. If you want to do it it, certainly it can't hurt but it does not have to be done to get the end result. Your plastic surgeon may feel differently. Hope that's helpful.

Answer: Massage After Liposuction? denver9. I am not a big fan of them lymphatic massage after liposuction because it can be extremely painful, and advantages have not been backed up by scientific research. It is all anecdotal. It is important to continue to wear your elastic garment as much as possible and follow the advice from your plastic surgeon. Best of luck.
