Hi doctors, Yesterday, i just had my teeth done, composite resin veneers, here in thailand.. I am happy with the results but i am paranoid that i will chip them, the doctor said my veneers can last 3-5 years.. But im scared, what if im out of town and suddenly my veneer chipped? What should I do? I dont bite using my front teeth since im really scared..
Answer: Your teeth look very night! Your teeth really look nice. I think that your dentist did a fabulous job. The upside to composite is that it is cheaper and immediate. The downside is that it stains a lot faster than your regular tooth enamel and is not as durable as enamel. I would recommend that you refrain from dark liquids like wine and grape juice or dark powders like curry. I would be very careful not to chew anything hard or crunchy with them. I would advise that you just continue to be very careful with them until you can eventually get porcelain veneers on each of those teeth. Veneers are what I do, so "Follow" me if you have more questions about them.Sarah Thompson, DMD

Answer: I'm afriad of breaking my newly placed composite veneers Just be careful that you don't bite hard on your veneered teeth. If you grind or clench your teeth, then highly recommend you speak with your dentist regarding a night guard protective appliance.Ask your dentist to tell you the name of the type of composite resin he used and the color. Keep that information with you.Should you break one, and are out of the area, you might be able to find a dentist who has the same material and color to replace your broken veneer.I should also mention that if you should find some day that your veneers need replacement, then I strongly recommend that you consider porcelain veneers, especially utilizing an extremely strong and natural looking type of porcelain called EMax. We used to routinely use Empress until the company that manufactures Empress finally came up with the much improved Emax porcelain. We've used Emax for the past two years and I am really impressed with it and has become my favorite porcelain to use for most porcelain veneers. You might be interested in looking at the web site below for examples of porcelain veneers.

Answer: How to take care of composite bonded tooth The reason why porcelain is more costly than bonded veneers is exactly the answer I am about to give you. Composite bonded fillings, or veneers can be chipped and stained more readily than porcelain ones. You can only decrease the chances of chipping and staining you cannot prevent it. No mater what you do, you need to replace it every so often. So getting a porcelain restoration is the way to go from the start . Porcelain never stains. Since you'll end up replacing your composite Restoration 2 to 3 times over the same period that you would have kept the porcelain veneer in, it will be the same if not less cost to get porcelain. So please consider porcelain the next time you are doing anything on your teeth. The composite also doesn't bleach or whiten with teeth whitening. So , to extend the life of your composite,:1) Stay away from dark colored food and drink, or if you consume them , immediately rinse off your teeth afterwards. 2) Brush and polish them professionally at your dentist's office every so often. 3) Keep regular check up appointments to fix chips if they happen when they are small. 4) Make sure you are not a grinder, if you are ware a night guard 5) make sure your bite if not off and you do not grind your teeth with excessive pressure6) Refrain from biting directly into anything hard, such as corn on the cobb, cunchy apple, nuts, and even taring a tough peace of toast !Good luck
