Can sunscreen be put on over makeup and still be effective?

1 answer to “Can facial sunscreen be put on over...”

Ronald Shelton, MD

Not really, sunscreen must bind to the stratum corneum ( or the most upper layer of the skin ) to chemically work best. If applied over makeup, it will not protect you in the way it was designed.
