Braces: Q&A

Braces then Veneer or Just Veneers? (photo)

Hello Doctors and thank you for your time. It is much appreciated. Acc to the photos, would it be better to do braces first then a veneer for the front tooth or can i do them together? (i've had braces before for the top teeth only, and they've relapsed since). What is the best way to get rid of the white stain before/while doing lingual braces. Would veneers on all teeth be better without doing braces ? Would whitening be needed and is it a good idea to make the two top front teeth smaller?

Braces or Veneers???

Definately go have a orthodontic(braces) consult-I feel your long term succes would be braces and then maybe just a cosmetic treatment on the one front tooth. Even though braces may not be immediate, veneers can fail, stain, cost alot of money and would not be my first choice for you. See a dentist who specializes in smiles and has a lot of experience. Definately do whitening once you decide your treatment!! Have fun and do your homework for a great result. more

Braces first

I would strongly recommend orthodontic treatment prior to doing veneers. Orthodontic treatment would allow the cosmetic dentist to remove less tooth structure when preparing the teeth for veneers, but more importantly, it could fix the posterior crossbite that is present on the right side.

Veneers vs Braces or Both?

So far every dentist has given you the best answer and explanation of your case.Like you already know, Veneers are a great and fast option. I if you are ok going through braces, that will be the most predictable, and with the best aesthetics final results. Whitening will improve the white part of your front tooth, but it can look worse before it looks better because that area gets super white , but it will get better as your teeth gets whiter. After braces are done, then start your veneers.... more

Veneers With Orthodontics or Without Orthodontics

The advantage of doing veneers without orthodontics is a faster result and no worry of relapse like you had the first time with orthodontics. But the advantages of doing orthodontics first far out weighs not doing braces. Your upper arch is very constriced and you have a severe crossbite in the posterior. Orthodontics can give you a much broader smile, a proper bite and by expanding the arches give your tongue adequate space for proper breathing. Constricted tongue... more

Veneers only is quicker, but not better

Doing both allows the veneers to be very conservative and ideal. That means the treatment will last longer.

Braces or Veneers?

Based on the photos, it looks like braces first would be the best result - you can do this with veneers alone but alot of tooth will need to be removed in order to correct the crossbite and the position of some of the teeth. For the long term, it would be better for you to put the teeth in the right place first. Expanding the upper arch will also have some positive health effects in addition to just reducing the amount of tooth that needs to be removed. When... more

Braces or Veneers or Both

Thank you for your photos. From the looks of them, it seems that you would do better with braces first to expand your upper arch and to correct the cross-bite on your right side. After the braces, then do 8 or 10 Veneers to make your upper teeth more proportional to one another. Yes, your 2 front teeth are too big compared to your others. In order to distribute the space and size properly, you would have to do 8 or 10 Veneers to get the ideal beautiful smile. If you're doing the upper... more
