Is Benzalkonium Chloride Effective for Fighting Acne?

I read that washing skin with a mild soap and follow up with a solution that contains Benzalkonium Chloride (no more than 0.3% concentration - commonly used in ear piercing antiseptic) is likely to significantly reduce acne as it penetrates the skin and kills these pesky bacterium. Is this true, and if so is it a common ingredient in over the counter acne products?
