I had Vaser Lipo almost 5 weeks ago, my weight is the same. Does this mean I'm gaining weight?

Thank you for your question. I always tell my patients to resist the temptation to weigh themselves after surgery including liposuction. VASER lipo or any lipo is not a weight reduction procedure, it is a body countouring procedure. With VASER, which I have used for over 10 years, you can get more swelling if the contouring is done to sculpt out the muscles of the abdomen, back and arms. Be patient, follow your surgeon's advise. Stay away from the scale!

You should not expect a reduction of the weight on the scale after any type of liposuction as this procedure is for contouring and not weight loss. You will go through fluid retention and water weight fluctuation during the first 3-6 months of recovery and may actually see a temporary increase in weight on the scale due to fluid retention. This generally resolves especially with a strict post-lipo care regimen.
