31 years old, after having my third and last child the skin above my belly button began to sag, I work out and I've lost the weight from my stomach area but now I just have the skin that's wrinkly.. If I pull and hold the skin right above my belly button it looks perfect... but how I do I get that permanent result?
Answer: Tummy Tuck Thank you for your question and pictures. A lot of women are the same as you. After pregnancy and weight loss the skin loses elasticity therefore appears lax and wrinkled. Unfortunately, no amount of exercise will tighten this as the skin has been stretched. You would be a good candidate for a mini or full tummy tuck (depending on examination). The results will give a contoured stomach, where the muscles will be sewn together giving a strong core again. Tummy Tuck Surgery usually requires carefully positioned incisions to allow the removal of excess skin and fat deposits, in order to minimise scarring and provide you with as tight and flat a stomach as possible. We will place the scar as low as possible. Usually, this is below your hip line. There will also be a fine scar around the rim of the belly button. Although the scar is visible within the first few weeks, it fades quickly so that it’s hardly visible. Please consult a board certified plastic surgeon. All The Best

Answer: Mini Tummy tuck Thank you for your question and photos. Based on the pictures alone, I'd say you are an excellent candidate for a mini tummy tuck. Similar to the full tummy tuck, the mini removes excess skin using an incision about the same size as a C-Section scar. It is ideal for patients like yourself who have only a small amount of skin laxity at the center abdomen with little fat. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Tummy tuck vs Ultherapy Hello. It looks like you have mostly excess skin around the belly button. The amount of laxity may require a reverse tummy tuck where the skin is exposed under the bra line. The traditional tummy tuck where the skin around the belly button is trimmed then pulled downward is the better option. Non invasive tissue tightening with Ultherapy or Themage may help shrink the skin a bit but not to the extent that a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty would accomplish.

Answer: Tummy tuck candidate Dear Exxotic529,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination but based on your photos and description, you might be a candidate for a tummy tuck. A full tummy tuck address all of the skin laxity and abdominal wall laxity. It repositions your umbilicus as well. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
