I've always hated my nipples. I would love it if I could get them normally sized, but I'm really worried about the decrease in sensitivity.
Answer: Nipple Areola Reduction Thank you for your question and picture.Yes, there is always the risk of loss of nipple sensation with nipple surgery; however, a skin -only areola/nipple reduction might solve the problem. The nerves to the nipple penetrate from the breast tissue underneath and do not travel superficially through the skin. To be sure, see two or more experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeons for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have surgery. I hope this helps.

Answer: Nipple/Areola Reduction Nipple and areolar reduction can always be done without any decrease in sensitivity. I counsel my patients that nipple reduction is done in a very artistic fashion with incisions that are virtually imperceptible and a customized excellent nipple that can be reduced both in diameter and projection. Breast-feeding may not be possible, but sensation and reaction to stimulation are always normal. Areolar diameter reduction can be done always and consistently with no loss of sensation, ability to breast-feed, or reaction to stimulation. This is an operation where skin only is removed. I hope this helps.
