Depends on placement of the incision

William Portuese, MD answers: Will I have a large forehead after Brow Lift?

Will traditional brow lift, leave me with a large looking forehead? I would want to have excess skin removed from forehead area. This would make my forehead look more in line with the rest of my face. Is that something that can be done?

I guess the Dr. would have to take a strip of skin off the forehead. Would they do what's called Mattress stitching? This was done when I had both upper & lower eye lids done. I had no scaring from the stitching or any sign's of anything being done.

I’m not really concerned with the scaring; it’s the large looking forehead I am concerned with. Again, thank you for your help.

With a level browlift, the hairline must either go higher or lower depending upon placement of the incision. If the incision is placed at the hairline, frontal area, the skin that is removed is all nonhair-bearing skin, and the hairline can be moved closer to the face. If the patient has a low hairline, the incision is usually placed behind the hairline so as to raise the hairline. This is done by removing hair-bearing skin and therefore raising the hairline. Vertical and horizontal mattress sutures can be used to give a meticulous closure of the incision so as not to have any scar detectability.
