What is the maximum size implant that can be placed safely behind the muscle for silicone memory gel? Also I know that a cc is a cc but in saline implants have a different shape and appearance compared to silicone memory gel. I had saline implants 375cc went to silicone 500cc but they seem smaller is this possible?

Breast implant sizing should be more dimensional than volume-based, in my opinion at least. Looking at a woman's chest wall, the breast has a diameter (the distance across), a projection (the distance outward), and a height. Going too far above certain maximums here leads to breasts that look kinda weird. There are shapes that change these numbers for a given volume.
This is really something best discussed between surgeon and patient before surgery. I start at consultation.
1st question: The limit on size is related to the diameter of your breast as well as other breast dimensions. The biggest implant available in the market is around 800cc. This is a huge implant, and I would not recommend it!
2nd question: Your 370 cc saline should not look bigger then the 550 gel. The saline implants could be inflated to a bigger size but not 200cc!
In general comparing shapes, the gel implant will tend to create a tear drop shape due to the gel displacement; the saline implant will stay as a round structure. Over-filling saline implants will also slightly change the diameter and the shape. Hope that helps.
The largerst silicone implant made by the company that I personally use is 800 cc. And that is the memory gel. Now there are companies out there that custom make implants as well.
As far as how large one person can go strictly depends on the patients body habitus, measurements and so forth. So impossible to tell how large you can go without an exam.
As far as silicone and saline equivalent, you are right a cc is a cc. It also depends on what time of implant, some have more projection than other given a set cc. So what may appears larger may simply be that the saline implant may have had more projection than the silicone implant, which may be wider.

The maximum sized available silicone gel implant available is 800 cc. You can get slightly larger with a saline implant. However, you should not choose a certain size without being evaluated by a plastic surgeon to determine if it is the apprpriate size for you based on your chest and breas dimensions as well as condition of your skin envelope. You say you feel that your 500 cc implants are smaller than your 375 cc saline implants. One possible reason may be that you have different profile implants. You may have had a lower profile implant before and now have a higher profile implant in which has more projection but is narrower.
