Silicone gel may not help Blepharoplasty scars

Stella Desyatnikova, MD answers: Silicone gel for eye bag removal scarring

I had an upper and lower eye bag removal 6 weeks ago. Now I have a visible scar below my right lower eyelash. My surgeon gave me a silcone gel and said to see him again in 3 months. Will this silcone gel sort the problem out?

The silicone gel might not be very helpful, but just normal healing process will probably make the scar line less visible. You also have to be really careful not to get the gel in the eye. It is unusual for a surgeon not to see the patient so early post-operatively for such a long time. We usually see our patients every month for the first several months to make sure the healing is going as expected. Perhaps you need to discuss with him seeing him earlier than 3 months.
