Hyaluronic acid fillers pass the kiss test

Houtan Chaboki, MD answers: Lip augmentation that passes the Kiss test?

While long-lasting would be nice-- as would be low cost-- the most important factor for me is natural looking and feeling lips. My friend calls this the Kiss Test. Passing the kiss test means that your kissing partner doesn't notice an unnatural lip texture. Which lip enhancement treatments are most natural feeling and pass the kiss test?

San Diego Beauty,

Natural looking and feeling lip augmentation is available in the US today. Both Juvederm and Restylane are clear gels that are given in the office with local anesthesia and last several months. These injectable fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a natural material found in the dermis.

Both Juvederm and Restylane are soft to touch and pass the Kiss test. You should not look like a porn star, unless you have large volumes injected into the lips. Most plastic surgeons and dermatologist will only inject the appropriate amount.

Your own fat injected into the lips is another alternative. Fat, a natural alternative to other injectables, lasts for several months. Some patients may experience a little lumpiness with this method, although most cosmetic patients are very happy.

Speak to your cosmetic specialist to find which lip augmentation is appropriate for you.
