Laser hair removal safety

Steven Bengelsdorf, MD answers: Laser hair removal safe around areola?

Is hair laser safe to use around the areola? I have a few hairs that I would like to remove in this area but want to make sure the laser hair removal won't do any damage.

Yes, it is safe to have laser hair removal done around the areola. We often do this with our LightSheer/Diode laser.

I would be careful using a Nd:Yag as often times there are large veins in the periareolar area which can potentially thrombose (clot off) if the energy penetrates too deeply.
