Bruising is related to many factors and many are beyond the doctor or patient's control. Some people bruise related to underlying vasculature, skin type, medications, injection technique, injection volume and location of injection. Sometimes bruising is unavoidable. However, typically bruising is very minimal and usually occurs about 10-20% of the time.
Some things that patients can do to minimize the risk of bruising is to make sure that unnecessary medications that are known to cause bruising such as aspirin and non steroidal anti inflammatory medications are stopped several weeks before treatment. (Consult your doctor before stopping any medication). Also, there are some treatments such as Arnaca that claim to minimize bruising with procedures. I have not seen any significant difference with using Arnaca.
