ChicChickK,
Endoscopic forehead lift uses a video camera. However, forehead lift and endoscopic forehead lift differ by more than just the video camera. The traditional forehead lift uses an incision that goes across the top of your head. The forehead skin is then elevated down to the level of your eyebrows. At this point, the muscles which cause you to frown and cause lines on your forehead can be excised. The skin is then stretched back up and the extra skin excised. The incision is then closed with sutures and staples.
In the endoscopic forehead lift, small incisions are make in your scalp behind your hair line. The video camera is then inserted and instruments are used to elevate the skin flap to the level of your eyebrows. The instruments are then used to remove the muscles that cause you to frown. The deep layer of skin is then pulled tight to the upper scalp to help elevate the level of the brows. Usually no skin is excised.
There are several modifications, such as the temporal brow lift. The procedure makes smaller incisions and excises a smaller amount of skin. It is good for elevating the lateral portion of the brow, but difficult to elevate the medial portion of the brow. You really need to be seen in consultation so the surgeon and observe your brows and come up with an individualized plan for you.
