I'm 24 years old. What should I do about heavy darkness left from blepharoplasty? Recently, I had transconjunctival blepharoplasty to remove genetic fat pads underneath lower eyelids. The fat was repositioned and removed. I had heavy swelling and oozing that lasted for 6 weeks. At 4 weeks post-op, I decided to tan to hide the darkened area under the eyes. The dark discoloration especially remained in areas that were heavy purple/red after surgery.
Now approximately 14 weeks post-op, the discoloration still lingers. My surgeon gave me 4% hydroquinone. I have been using it 6 weeks. It helped fade the discoloration, but it was not enough. At week 12, during the consultation, he suggested Croton oil peel. Should I wait for darkness to subside, have peel, or have an alternative? I’m concerned the peel might make it darker.
