Can I have a Brazilian Butt Loft if I'm slim?

Armando Soto, MD answers: Not enough fat for Brazilian Butt Lift

I'm slim and petite, and I have a small butt. I want a noticabely bigger and rounder butt, but what if I don't have enough body fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift? What are my other options?

Hi there-

In patients who want a larger, more full buttock volume with improved shape, the two alternatives are Brazilian Butt Lifting, in which fat is removed from some areas and transferred to your buttocks, and buttock implants. In some cases both are used to achieve the patient's goals.

In my practice, when patients do not have enough fat to achieve their goals, but the also do not wish to consider implants, we have achieved great success (and the patient's goals) by putting them on a weight gain diet for a few months. After gaining weight for a time, the excess fat can then be removed and grafted into the buttocks. Once the operation has been successfully completed, you may then resume your healthier lifestyle to lose the additional weight. You will, of course lose fat everywhere (including your butt), but the new shape and proportions of your butt to the rest of you are maintained. In other words, your butt will get smaller with the weight loss, but will stay larger compared to the rest of your body even after the weight loss.

If you are willing to gain a bit of weight prior to surgery, I would recommend this option, as it is permanent and will not require the long term maintenance that implants will.

I hope that helps!
