Brow lift or Bleph?

Is a brow lift (forehead lift) better to raise sagging eyelids than a blepharoplasty?

Great question! And one that is tough for you the patient to answer on your own...you really need a trained (ideally a board certified Plastic Surgeon who performs a significant number of these procedures!) to examine both your eyelids and your brows together.

Brow ptosis (sagging) is compensated by the lifting action of the muscles on the side of your forehead and leads to the wrinkles or lines across the forehead. This lifting also can recruit skin of the upper eyelid. A brow lift, as the name states, lifts the brow to a higher position, eliminating the forehead lines and may effectively or secondarily smooth out skin of the upper lid (but not always the goal in my opinion)...the brow lift also smoothes out the lines between the eyebrows (the lines we treat everyday with Botox!)

Blepharoplasty or eyelid lifting surgery, specifically targets the skin of the upper lid and also removes excess fat that bulges.

As you can see, two totally different operations with different goals and results...therefore let your experienced surgeon examine you and explain what would best serve your individual anatomy and goals!

I hope this helps!
