Office review - kind, informative, and clearly highly skilled

I have had 2 children, both vaginal deliveries. I had the following procedures with doctor Castillo: labiaplasty, rectocele repair, perineoplasty, tightening of the vaginal canal, sling for urinary incontinence. Dr. Castillo was kind, informative, and clearly highly skilled. I feel great, my body functions as it should, and everything went very smoothly. (He’s handsome and charming too. Uh o...

Dr. Castillo is very meticulous and his work proves this to be true. Labiaplasty: Great Result. I feel free and uninhibited

I've got "triple" labiaplasty done by Dr. Castillo: large and small labia reduction and clitoris hood reduction. I had big and sagged labia all my life. And I was always very shy showing without panties. Not a big deal, but if know that you're intimately ugly, that sucks. I didn't know much about labiaplasty, and came to a consultation to get an opinion and find out the options. Of course I...

This is such an important procedure. It was quick, painless and no problems with recovery.

Dr. Castillo and staff are wonderful. More important though are the results that I saw from 3 DiVa laser treatments. Its like being 20 years old again. This is such an important procedure. It was quick, painless and no problems with recovery. So many women suffer in silence and are not aware that there is a simple solution. It really works. I am very happy that I found Dr. Castillo and his team!

Q: 22 female self-conscious about labia - is it worth going through all the pain and recovery? (photos)
Answered by Dr. CastilloSeptember 17, 2021

A: Thank you for your question. As others have mentioned, Labia come in different sizes and shapes and are all considered normal. However, each person has an ideal image of them selves and how she may wish to appear. The most common reason patients have a Labiaplasty procedure is because of being self-conscious of the appearance in or out of clothes. It is important to have a consultation to review your anatomy because it’s not only what is removed/reduced, it’s also what is left behind that becomes the new focus. From your photos, a Clitoral hood reduction with pexy combined with a Labiaplasty will give you a balanced look. I recommend searching in this site for surgeons experienced in vaginal surgery and is able to provide more than just a Labiaplasty. Best of luck in your search. Q: What surgery should I get? Do I need a revision labiaplasty? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. CastilloSeptember 8, 2021

A: Thank you for your question and for sharing your photos. Although difficult to see the full results of your Labiaplasty from the photos that you’ve submitted, your concerns are apparent. Very commonly surgeons unfamiliar with vulvar anatomy, perform a Labiaplasty in the simplest form. That is give the patient what they asked for…smaller Labia. However, it is also the responsibility of the surgeon to take into account not only what is taken away but what is left behind. When the labia minora are elongated, asymmetrical or darker than the surrounding structures, they become the focal point. However, once the labia are addressed, the eye goes to a new focal point if left unbalanced. From your photos it appears that your surgeon did not address the redundant prepuce or perform a Clitoral hood reduction. By only addressing the labia, your results are nice however top-heavy. I see this frequently when labiaplasties are performed by surgeons that are not specially trained in vaginal cosmetic surgery. A prepuce and Clitoral hood reduction with pexy would likely complete the appearance that you are looking for. I recommend waiting a minimum of 3-6 months before performing the next step and research surgeons on this website for level of experience in performing Clitoral hood reductions. Best of luck, Peter Castillo, MD FACOG FPMRS Aesthetic and reconstructive vaginal surgery Los Gatos, CA

Q: 30 year old, olive skin - Anti-aging laser - Halo or Clear & Brilliant?
Answered by Dr. CastilloSeptember 28, 2020

A: Thank you for your question. Type 4 skin has to be approached with care as with all patients that have melanin tick. Complications such as hyperpigmentation can be mitigated by using proper settings, skin prep, and the right laser. Halo is a fractional hybrid with robust, tunable settings for each skin type and condition making for a true color-blind treatment. Halo is an excellent choice for darker skin types. An in person consultation would help identify your areas of concern.

Q: Is there a certain amount of time after a labiaplasty I have to wait before having a clitorial hood reduction?
Answered by Dr. CastilloApril 19, 2020

A: Thank you for your question. Although this isn’t necessarily a revision rather a missed opportunity to provide the best outcome, you should wait at least 12 weeks before having surgery in the area. I say this because labiaplasty surgery when performed under Insurance often only address the “one thing” that you complained about without consideration for what’s left behind. After an evaluation with an experienced Labiaplasty surgeon you will likely be recommended to address all areas to provide a balanced appearance. Your labial asymmetry should be addressed along with a Clitoral hood reduction with pexy to achieve your truly desired results. Best of luck in your search.

Q: Can you get Thermiva treatment while on accutane?
Answered by Dr. CastilloSeptember 2, 2019

A: Thank you for your question. Although, Energy based treatments to the face is generally not recommended for patients while taking accutane, there is no concern with having any intravaginal treatment including ThermiVa. If it’s time for your touch-up, you can proceed without concerns. Of course you should discuss this with your provider.
