Benjamin Caughlin, MD, FACS
Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

“Results, Safety and Enjoyment! I focus solely on facial plastic surgery because I feel strongly about sub-specialization in medicine to maximize patient results, safety and enjoyment in the process. I have developed what is now known as Cheekago! It is a procedure that involves a combination of buccal fat pad sculpting, jawline sculpting and neck liposuction. This triple combo lets the skin of the neck redrape over the mandible and leads to a double concavity surrounding the mandible. It is all about the jawline these days and that's my thing!"

Top Rate Surgeon, Friendly, Excellent Listener and Communicator

I’ve had three previous plastic surgeries over the past ten years. I was very satisfied with them all of in terms of actual results and the surgeon’s communication and bedside manner. With that said, Dr. Caughlin is in a league of his own. He was an excellent listener regarding my areas of concern. He clearly explained my options along with his recommendations and the rationale for them. His...

This procedure gave me that model-esque looking contour

I’ve been going to Dr. Caughlin since 2018. He was the surgeon that performed my buccal fat extraction and he absolutely killed it. He has also fixed my chin and does all my filler work and Botox. I naturally had a very round face and this procedure gave me that model-esque looking contour. He is an artist in his field. It’s been 4 years since I’ve had the procedure and it still looks amazi...

The results from my extended chin liposuction are phenomenal

I had buccal fat removal, extended chin liposuction, and a medium chin implant with Dr. Caughlin. I travel from out of state so I did a virtual consultation and then met doctor for a preop before my procedure. Although I did not meet him in person before the day of the procedure I felt the virtual consultation and communication with the office staff prior to the procedure was more than...

Q: Should I wait to lose weight for chin/neck liposuction? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. CaughlinMarch 27, 2023

A: This is very good insight. You know the fact that at any weight you still have a "double chin" or lack of jawline really helps us determine likely there is some structure deficiency that leads to your "problem". I would say some sort of chin augmentation along with what I call jawline sculpting lipo including posterior to the SCM is what would give the best results. Find a surgeon you trust and be clear with your goals, Best, DrC

Q: Belkyra or chin liposuction: Which would be better for me? (photos)
Answered by Dr. CaughlinAugust 25, 2020

A: We have a lot of options to treat this area. Full disclosure, I am a surgeon and definitely prefer to remove this fat and send it down the Mississippi! That being send I always offer the nonsurgical options such as fat dissolving injections, coolsculpting and evoke. We are just able to get such good results in younger patients with direct sculpting with one procedure and minimal downtime it is hard to pass up. It really is one of my favorite procedures. Find a surgeon you trust and be clear with your goals. Best of luck, DrC

Q: Using fillers in scalp for lifting affect? Will this damage my hair follicles? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. CaughlinJuly 28, 2020

A: I have done this with fat transfer which actually can even be good for hair follicles! If the filler is placed properly it should not be an issue though in my experience. It's all about volume in the right places! Hope this is helpful, Best of luck, DrC

Q: What to do for a better side profile? What size chin implant would I need? (photos)
Answered by Dr. CaughlinJuly 9, 2020

A: You have very nice skin. That is good news. In my hands, you would do best with a combination of submental lipo and/or tightening (possibly facetite, thermi...) then chin augmentation. Implant, fillers, fat we have plenty of options. It is all about creating nice balance with a sharp cervico-mental angle. Hot is Hot and that is an attractive feature in everyone.

Hope this helps,

Q: My cheeks are sagging after fat grafting and liposuction, what I can do without surgery to fix this issue? (Photos)
Answered by Dr. CaughlinJune 18, 2020

A: This is correctable without a doubt. It is all about having volume in the right places. We have many different options from repositioning current fat pads to altering the upper 1/3rd of your face to camoflage the "sagging" cheeks.  Even with some well placed fillers you would likely be able to get what you want in the right hands.

I hope this is helpful,

Best of luck,

DrC
