Q: What is the real reason so many drs discourage having a FL in your 40s? Does it compromise integrity of the tissues?
Answered by Dr. MachidaFebruary 1, 2024

A: There is no reason not to do it in your 40's, unless you don't really need it. I prefer do this procedure in the 40's because women often look like their daughters in their 20s after the procedure. If you wait longer so you are saggier, you won't be able to achieve your desired result. Doctors refuse because they do not think they can improve someone, so it also depends on their experience and technique.

Q: It is possible that the doctor is lying to me? He is doing endoscoping lifting and not a deep plane
Answered by Dr. MachidaDecember 14, 2023

A: Endoscopic mid face lifts are different from the deep plane lift done on the entire face. The doctor is taking liberty in his description because it is technically close to bone and deep to most structures, but is not a deep plane facelift.

Q: Hyperpigmentation 2 years after CO2 laser - is it reasonable to ask for a refund? (photos)
Answered by Dr. MachidaNovember 30, 2023

A: Your hyperpigmentation is very unusual for your skin type. In the absence of any previous history of laser causing this problem in the past, which you mentioned to the doctor before the procedure, this is not typical and does not imply a surgical error. When you say you spend a lot of money to correct this, does this mean you did chemical peels to take away the pigment, or did you try a different laser to diminish the spots? At any rate, I'm sorry to say that although it's up to your doctor, a refund is not warranted because the result was likely not due to operator error but your body's healing response. It's unfortunate that you have to deal with this.

Q: Neck lift complications, can this be corrected & when? (Photos)
Answered by Dr. MachidaNovember 28, 2023

A: You had a lower facelift as well as a neck lift. The indentation on your cheek should resolve with time. You also have a midline platysmal band which might be a suture, depending on technique. Let it settle first, then at the one-year mark, suggestions about a revision can be made.

Q: Surgeon's age - what is your opinion on an older plastic surgeon?
Answered by Dr. MachidaOctober 25, 2023

A: Your answer really depends on the doctor. I've known doctors with active minds and high energy levels at that age. Given his experience, It is possible for him to produce results equivalent to or better than peers half his age. But it also depends on his hands and manual dexterity, which you have really no way to gauge. In other words, you're the best judge because you have first-hand experience with him. Age is a consideration but only one part of your consideration. Best of luck in your decision.
