Happy with Results but Woke Up Mid- Surgery

28yr Female, 5'2 195lbs no kids. I knew I wanted a tummy tuck one day but didn't have the finances or down time required for it so I went in for a lipo consultation only, thinking I can lipo to "de-bulk" then get the tummy tuck whenever I was able to meet the requirements. With a glance Dr. Andan knew I wouldn't be happy when just lipo. If he was aggressive with lipo I would be left with a lot...

I’d choose Dr. Andan over any doctor

After an extensive search of doctors in NYC & Miami I landed on NY Surgical Arts, and it was the best decision I made. Dr. Andan and his office is great. I hade Lipo 360 (full back, flanks, abs, and some etching) in late January. Had very minimal swelling and followed up with only 5 sessions of lymphatic massage. Pain and draining was worst the first two days but was on a rapid recovery....

Top notch body contouring in Long Island no need to travel South

I was looking into Vaser 360 Lipo/Small BBL/ J plasma skin tightening for over a year.I loved the results of liposuction and plasma being done in Miami but due to Covid pandemic and constant travel restrictions I opted on going local. After virtual consult , I saw my surgeon who fully assessed my skin laxity after 3 kids and I was relieved that I sale to get away without TT. Office...

Q: What do I do about these parentheses?
Answered by Dr. AndanFebruary 28, 2020

A: The lines you’ve shown in your photo aren’t uncommon and typically respond nicely to carefully placed filler. As long as you seek out an experienced, skilled provider who understands how and where to place the filler in order to achieve the desired result, you shouldn’t have to worry about lumpiness or product migration. You could still combine laser treatments with the filler if you decide to go that route.

I would recommend sitting down with an experienced cosmetic surgeon to discuss your goals and concerns in more detail and to get a personalized treatment plan.

Q: Will I be able to get fillers in smile lines again without stretching out the wrinkles? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. AndanFebruary 28, 2020

A: Hello, and thank you for sharing your question and photos. There is no evidence that long-term use of fillers will stretch out your skin or make wrinkles worse. Many women and men choose to get fillers regularly in order to smooth away wrinkles and maintain a more youthful-looking complexion. But you can combine various treatments with your fillers to help enhance and even prolong their results. Talk to your cosmetic surgeon about the best skincare products to use to help give your skin a boost from the inside out. Other treatments like microneedling may also be beneficial.

Q: Can you combine facial yoga and Botox for wrinkle prevention?
Answered by Dr. AndanFebruary 21, 2020

A: Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, there isn't any concrete evidence that "face yoga" or facial exercises are able to prevent wrinkles. In fact, contracting your facial muscles more than usual may make wrinkles form more quickly, as it is these repeated movements that create dynamic wrinkles in the first place. Over time, dynamic wrinkles turn into static wrinkles that remain on your face even while at rest.

That said, there have been studies that have found that getting regular BOTOX® treatments and starting them sooner rather than later could have a preventative effect on wrinkles over time.

Q: Can Botox be used to lift the cheeks and middle of the face?
Answered by Dr. AndanFebruary 14, 2020

A: Great question. The reason why BOTOX® is most commonly used in areas like the forehead and jawline is that it temporarily relaxes facial muscles—such as those that create frown lines and the masseter muscles at the jawline. Using BOTOX in the mid-face area could relax the muscles that control smiling and other facial expressions, creating an undesirable result.

Dermal fillers are more commonly used in the cheek area to both smooth away lines and wrinkles and provide added volume, which can have the “lifting” effect you’ve mentioned.

Q: Can a board certified family doctor do facial fillers?
Answered by Dr. AndanFebruary 7, 2020

A: Great question. Family doctors and nurses are legally able to provide injectable treatments like fillers and BOTOX®. However, that does not necessarily mean they are the best choice of providers for these services. Fillers require an aesthetic eye, proper technique and years of experience in order to get them just right. In many cases, family physicians do not have this experience since it is not the focus of their practice.

If you’re still interested in working with this provider, schedule a consultation and inquire about his or her experience and training specific to dermal fillers.
