Q: Fix crease in stomach and revise ab etching? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. MarkmannApril 27, 2024

A: Sorry to hear about your experience with Ab-Etching. Ab Etching, like most Plastic Surgery procedures is an Art! There are good artists and unfortunately, some not so good! It looks like your surgeon gave you a 4-pack. Maybe that is what you body really has, but that is not common in men. Most have 6-packs and sometimes 8-packs. Your surgeon may have just given you the creases to look like abs and not actually followed your real 6-pack. When I create abs, I follow exactly what I can feel of your own muscles and the tendons between your muscles. It is where the tendons are that you should have the creases. I take the fat out of these areas which just brings out your own real 6-pack. It also looks like your surgeon left a lot of fat in your lower abdomen and waistline. One thing I tell all of my prospective 6-pack patients is.... If you're going to have a 6-pack, you should look like you should have a 6-pack. If you have fat in your lower abdomen, waist or love handles, that has to go. If your armpits are full of fat and you don't have good Pec definition, then that fat needs to go as well and I carve out their pec muscles too. I do not know exactly what your surgeon did, but there are 2 options..... correct your 4 or 6-Pack, remove the excess far of your lower abdomen and try to remove the crease. Or.... Try to erase your lines and crease. I definitely believe in compression. But this must be kept smooth. If it is wrinkled, it can cause creases. If it is smooth, it is beneficial. I do not believe taking it off too soon in any way created the crease! Make sure you shop around. Good Luck!

Q: How to get rid of butt dent? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. MarkmannApril 20, 2024

A: It's very tough to tell what the problem is from this picture. You may have had a Hematoma that resulted in Scar tissue and a bump. Or... You may have had some Fat Necrosis causing an indentation and Scar tissue. The fix for this problem will depend on that the real issue is. If it is scar tissue from an old hematoma causing a bump, Steroid shots may help or you may need that lump removed. If it is scar tissue causing the dent, then Subcision may be able to release the scar tissue bands causing the dent. This might also require fat grafting if the scar release alone does not fix this problem. Good Luck

Q: Tummy tuck sting - what do you recommend?
Answered by Dr. MarkmannApril 7, 2024

A: It is very tough for me to know what the cause of this pain is since I didn't do your surgery. The best thing to do is discuss with your surgeon. Your pain may be due to the stitches used to repair diastasis recti, that is, if you had this done. ? Do you have a bulge there? It could be a hernia. ? The best thing to do is see your surgeon and have them examine you. Good Luck!

Q: Hemoglobin fluctuates - what could I do to increase it?
Answered by Dr. MarkmannApril 7, 2024

A: Fortunately, Breast Augmentation is a very low blood loss procedure. There is nothing you can do to improve this situation in less than a week. You should discuss this with your surgeon and PCP as to whether they think you should proceed or postpone.

Q: Is a subfascial transaxillary approach possible for breast augmentation?
Answered by Dr. MarkmannApril 7, 2024

A: Trans Axillary Breast Augmentation was very common in the past. It still is done, but it has been shown to have a higher Capsular Contracture rate just like the Circum Areolar approach. The safest technique is through the crease beneath the breast. Also, most implants are placed under the muscle which lowers the capsular contracture rate, makes mammograms better and minimizes the risk of drooping. Sub Facial, Trans Ax would be tough and higher risk. Definitely not my recommendation.
