Top notch upper & lower blepharoplasty with Dr. Hessler

This is a very overdue review but I had to get it on here. Dr. Hessler is a true artist and incredibly competent surgeon. She performed an upper and lower blepharoplasty on me in July and I could not be happier with the results. I recovered within 2 weeks and was even able to walk around Disneyland with my kids. I had been suffering from sagging of the eyelids which looking back, kept me away...

Lower eyelids, fat transfer, FaceTite, buccal fat reduction, chin lipo & implant

I came to Dr. Hessler’s office super open, looking for her and Christy’s recommendations on how to improve my eye bags and lower face area, and 6 months later I’m here writing this in my 30s looking better than I looked in my teens. After consulting with the team I just knew that I didn’t need to look any further, their communication was fantastic, I left there educated and confident in the ...

My dream ears - they look fabulous and no longer protrude

As a young child, I was made fun of by other kids because my ears stuck out. Begging and pleading with my parents to have them surgically corrected was a frequent discussion. My parents would not agree to elective surgery, thus, I never wore my hair in a ponytail, as other little girls do. Even with my hair down, my ears would pop through my hair. Having my ears “pinned” was something I had...

I have a beautiful, refined nose that still looks natural and fits my face

I love my grandmother, but never grew to love the bulbous nose I had inherited from her. I have known for most of my adult life that my nose was something I would love to change when I had the chance. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hessler to discuss treatment options for my nose. I had done a lot of research on what made a beautiful nose and looked at tons of photos. I was surprised to...

Q: I’m wondering if a Plastic Surgeon or an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon is better for a neck lift?
Answered by Dr. HesslerApril 1, 2021

A: There are many different surgical specialties that perform cosmetic facial procedures. Most importantly, you want to make sure that the procedure you are seeking is one of the surgeon's specialities. For facial plastic surgery, physicians specialize in surgical procedures of the face and neck. To become a facial plastic surgeon there is a 5 year residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery performing surgery exclusively on the face and neck. Following completion of residency there is a 1 year fellowship for additional specialized training in aesthetic procedures. Surgeons in other fields can also be trained in facelifts and well.

Q: Does everyone experience some degree of choking feeling after a facelift with platysmaplasty tightening?
Answered by Dr. HesslerApril 1, 2021

A: I would say very few patients feel a true choking sensation after a facelift and platysmaplasty. There is a definite tight feeling of the neck but very few people in my experience feel like they are choking. The area of the lower face and neck can certainly feel tight and numb at the same time which can be an odd feeling. I find this is a short term concern and generally resolves within a few days to weeks for my patients.

Q: Is it okay to get blepharoplasty before weight loss is complete? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. HesslerJanuary 13, 2019

A: The lower eyelid fat pockets tend to be diet resistant areas.  Additional weight loss should not significantly affect the fat pockets but can impact the surrounding tissues in this region.  If your surgeon is considering fat transfer, which is often performed with the lower eyelid surgery, then you may want to consider waiting until you are at a stable weight.

Q: Am I ready for a facelift at 37 years old? (Photos)
Answered by Dr. HesslerJanuary 13, 2019

A: There is not an absolute best age for a facelift. An individuals genes, exposures, and medical conditions can all contribute to facial aging.  Taking into account your photos and age it appears you are a little premature for invasive surgery.  I would recommend trying non-invasive skin tightening treatments such as Ultherapy or other skin tightening devices in addition to fillers at this point.

Q: Do you have to take antibiotics for a lower face lift?
Answered by Dr. HesslerJanuary 13, 2019

A: Antibiotics are not necessary after a facelift. The risk of infection is very low following this type of surgery and studies have not demonstrated a clear advantage.  In my practice that focuses on facial rejuvenation we give one dose of antibiotics through the IV prior to facelift surgery, but no other antibiotics are necessary.
